Our choir started its long journey to Spanish Cantonigros on 15th July 1997, where it was supposed to take part in one of the important European festivals of choir music. 53 choirs and dancing groups from 31 countries of the world took part in the festival. Our choir competed in two categories. The first one was a category of mixed choirs, where 21 choirs took part, and Tirnavia won 5th place. In the other one we won 9th place from 27 attendant choirs. Besides competitive concerts we took part in an evening program on a festival non-competitive concert and at the end of our stay we thanked with a concert our Spain families, in which we were accommodated and which friendly and responsibly looked after us.

The tour to Spain was not only a singing and professional experience for us, an opportunity to measure our powers, nerves and qualities, inspiration and motivation to further achievements, but also a unique opportunity to experience wonderful moments in a friendly atmosphere on unusual places. The French sea bank with its azure sea, world-known festival Cannes, Olympic Barcelona or gorgeous waterfalls in Catalan mountains are unforgettable. We were joined by joy and sometimes tiredness, enthusiasm and sometimes annoyance, but we were together, we wanted to achieve something and we had nice memories. In Cantonigros we introduced ourselves for the first time in black and yellow uniforms. We even were awarded as a choir with the most beautiful girls and I actually do not even speak about boys.
