We expected it to be a perfect tour. Udine, Italy, is close to Bibione, the weather was supposed to be lovely, we had excellent repertoire – the greatest hits were definitely “sea-gulls” and Concerto Rustico. However, as they say ‘don’t count your chickens before they hatch’. The jury liked easier compositions and our triumphs were beaten for instance by horribly sung Rock My Soul. So we tried to seek fun somewhere else and luckily there was a chance soon in the form of our driver, whose incompetence was transcended only by… no, it was not transcended by anything at all. Therefore the memories about never-ending travelling around Udine when the nice bus driver has not been able to remember our journey between 2 locations in a city, small accident and funny quarrelling with a victim driver will surely remain in the minds of all choir members, not to mention our journey back to Slovakia when we run out of fuel 3 (verbally three) times. The first time we managed to reach a petrol station by inertia (a good guess marked 1), the second time it went dead on a motorway just in front of Vienna Metro shop and we were saved by motorway police and the last time it was on the border in Berg (border between Austria and Slovakia), where our nice driver walked himself to the first Slovak petrol station to buy gas.
